INGREDIENTS:

225g unsalted butter (soften)

200g caster sugar

1 ½ tsp vanilla paste

1 egg

450g flour (plain)

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

WAY TO PREPARE:

Start by preheating the oven to 180°C.

Line a tray with baking paper.

In a bowl, mix the butter and sugar until creamy, then add the egg and vanilla and mix until completely combined.

Add the flour, baking powder, and salt to the butter mixture and start mixing slowly until the flour is incorporated.

Dust the work surface with flour and place the dough on it. Knead it to form a ball and then cut it into 2 smaller balls (easier to shape and work with).

Roll out to half a centimeter, sprinkling with flour under and over so the dough won't stick.

Choose the cookie cutters you like, then press out shapes. For easier transfer onto the tray, you can use a knife or spatula.

(Depending on the tray size, you might need to repeat the baking process a few times, taking the ready cookies out onto a cooling rack, and then placing the next batch of them.)

Bake until golden (about 10 minutes, depending on the power of the oven).

Then allow cookies to cool completely.

When they are cool, comes the fun part!!! Decorating them :)

You can use your creativity and choose if you want to put icing on them, chocolate glaze, or just simply dust them with icing sugar.

Note: I chose icing, so you can have a look at the recipe for icing over here! ;)
